ON-CAMPUS HOUSING:

On-campus SIU University Housing is recommended for first year international students but only required all single students under the age of 21, not residing with their parents or legal guardians, with fewer than 26 credit hours earned after high school are required to live in University-owned and operated residence halls. Please visit the university housing website for a full description of this policy.

If you will stay at SIU during breaks when the University is closed ensure that you make accommodations for the applicable break period. For break housing options from university housing, please visit their website.

You can contract online before you arrive. See below for links to SIU On-Campus Housing:  

Sometimes the residence halls do not allow students to move in until AFTER the start of orientation. In this case you will need temporary housing.

OFF-CAMPUS HOUSING:

Students who are eligible to live off campus are welcome to search the local community for housing. Do NOT sign a contract with an off campus source before you arrive in Carbondale and physically see the apartment.
